Privacy Policy — Strength for Runners

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Strength for Runners ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Strength for Runners app ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account and use the App, we may collect:

Your email address, used to create and manage your account.
Information you provide during onboarding, including your strength training background and training goals.
Equipment preferences you indicate within the App.
Areas of concern or discomfort you optionally select, so the App can adapt exercise guidance to your current needs. This information is used only to tailor your training experience and is not a medical record.
Workout activity, including which sessions you view, complete, and how you engage with exercise content.
Training history, including completed workouts and session records.
Product usage and interaction events, collected to help us understand how the App is used and improve it over time.
Technical and device information, such as device platform and app version, provided through analytics services.

Optional fitness integrations. The App may offer optional connections to third-party fitness services. These connections are off unless you turn them on. If you authorize a connection to Garmin Connect, we may receive the following information about activities recorded on your Garmin account:

Activity type, date and timestamps.
Duration, distance, pace and speed.
Heart rate, elevation and other activity metrics your device recorded.
GPS routes and location coordinates for activities recorded with GPS.
Garmin account and activity identifiers needed to maintain the connection and match activities to your account.

The information we receive depends on the permissions you grant in Garmin Connect and on the activities you record. We receive activities recorded after you connect. We do not ask for or receive your Garmin password.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and maintain your account.
Personalise your training programme based on your preferences and current needs.
Track your workout history and progress within the App.
Improve the App based on how it is used.
Respond to support requests and provide assistance.
Communicate with you about the App, including during the beta period.

If you authorize Garmin Connect, we use the activity data we receive for the following, as these features are released in the App:

Display a private, chronological history of your training within the App.
Present activity details and, for GPS activities, a map of the route.
Provide summaries and visualizations of your past activities.
Let you attach your own journal entries to individual activities.

We do not sell your information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising purposes.

4. Product Analytics

The App uses PostHog, a product analytics service, to help us understand how users interact with the App. PostHog may collect information about screens you visit, features you use, and actions you take within the App. This information is associated with a unique identifier derived from your account.

We do not send your email address, name, or the specific content of areas of concern you select to our analytics service. We also do not send Garmin activity measurements, GPS coordinates or routes, access tokens, or the contents of your personal journal entries to our analytics service. Analytics data is used solely to improve the App.

5. Garmin Connect Integration

This section describes how the App handles information from Garmin Connect once you choose to connect it. Garmin activity data is received only for accounts that have authorized the connection.

Optional authorization

Connecting Garmin Connect is optional. You authorize access through Garmin's own sign-in and consent screens, where you choose which permissions to grant. We receive only the data made available under the permissions you grant. You can change those permissions, or remove Strength for Runners entirely, from your Garmin Connect account settings at any time.

How we use Garmin data

Activities received from Garmin are associated with your individual Strength for Runners account and are used to provide your private training history, activity details, route maps and related features within the App. Garmin-derived activity data is not shared publicly through the App and is not shown to other users.

Activity journaling

You may add your own information to an activity, such as a soreness rating or written notes about how the session felt. These journal entries are written by you and are stored separately from the information we receive from Garmin. Journal entries that are linked to a Garmin activity may still be subject to Garmin's contractual requirements where they incorporate or reference Garmin data.

Data sales and advertising

We do not sell Garmin data, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising.

Artificial intelligence

We do not use Garmin data to train, evaluate or improve artificial intelligence models. Garmin data is not currently used to generate automated coaching or insights, and Garmin-derived data is not sent to artificial intelligence providers under the initial integration. Any future processing of Garmin data by artificial intelligence systems would require a separate contractual and privacy assessment before it is implemented, and would be reflected in an update to this policy.

Disconnection and deletion

You can revoke the App's access to your Garmin data at any time from your Garmin Connect account settings, or disconnect Garmin from within the App under Settings.

Disconnecting removes the stored Garmin credentials and stops new Garmin activities from arriving. Activities and routes already imported remain in your training history so that your records are not lost when you change devices. You can ask us to delete your imported Garmin data at any time, and it is deleted when you delete your account, by contacting support@strengthforrunners.com.

6. Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

Supabase — provides authentication, database, backend functions, and storage infrastructure. Your account data and training information are stored in Supabase. Garmin activity data and the credentials used to maintain the connection are received by backend functions and stored in the database hosted by Supabase. See supabase.com/privacy.
PostHog — product analytics. PostHog does not receive Garmin activity measurements, GPS data, access tokens, or journal contents. See section 4 above and posthog.com/privacy.
Expo Application Services — used to build and submit the App to Apple. Expo does not receive your account data, training information, or Garmin data. See expo.dev/privacy.
Apple TestFlight — used to distribute the App during the beta period. TestFlight is subject to Apple's own privacy practices and does not receive your training or Garmin data from us. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
Google Workspace — used to receive and respond to support email sent to support@strengthforrunners.com. Google's privacy practices apply to email correspondence, including any information you choose to include in a support request. See workspace.google.com/terms/privacy.
Resend — used to deliver email we send you, such as account sign-up and verification messages, and to send us an internal notification when you request beta access on our website. That notification contains the email address and description you submit. See resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Beta access requests. If you request access to the beta on our website, we store the email address and the description you provide in Supabase, together with the time of your request and its status, so that we can manage invitations. We use this information only to administer the beta. You can ask us to delete your request at any time at support@strengthforrunners.com.

Supabase is our primary infrastructure provider for receiving, processing and storing Garmin-derived data. We do not intentionally transmit Garmin activity data to our product analytics provider. Each of these providers processes data under their own terms and privacy practices. We select service providers that we believe maintain reasonable data security standards.

7. Data Storage and Security

Your account and training data are stored by Supabase. We apply reasonable technical measures to protect information within our control. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account and training data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. If you request account deletion, we will take reasonable steps to remove your personal information from our systems, subject to any applicable legal requirements.

Garmin-derived data is retained only as needed to provide the integration you authorized and in accordance with Garmin's applicable requirements. Disconnecting Garmin removes the stored credentials and stops new data. Imported activities and routes are retained as part of your training history until you delete your account or ask us to remove them, in accordance with Garmin's requirements. Journal entries you wrote are handled as described in section 5.

9. Your Data Rights and Account Deletion

You can contact us at support@strengthforrunners.com to request:

Access to the personal information we hold about you.
Correction of inaccurate information.
A copy of your information in a portable format.
Deletion of your personal information.
Withdrawal of your consent for an optional integration, such as Garmin Connect.
Deletion of your account and the data associated with it.

We handle these requests through support and will respond within a reasonable time. Where a request is subject to legal or contractual limits, we will explain what we can and cannot do.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

11. International Users

The service providers we use to operate the App may process your information in various countries. By using the App, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, subject to those providers' own terms and privacy practices.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
